Laura began studying American Cabaret Bellydance with Suspira at Orlando Bellydance in early 2004. She was quickly invited to join her instructor’s classical troupe, leading her down a path of creativity and passion for performing and teaching. Interested in the various stylings of the dance brought her to a modern variation, fusion bellydance, and she became a founding member of Black V Tribal in Orlando.
Taking her interest in dance to a deeper level, Laura became one of the first graduating members of the Florida Tribal Dance teaching format and has been holding weekly classes since March 2011 at dance studios throughout Central Florida.
Laura draws on her experience and background in Cabaret bellydance to lend a playful and sassy feel to her slinky fusion aesthetic, embracing a personal style she heralds as “glossy fusion bellydance.” She performs regularly at venues throughout the state with her performance company, BalaChandra BellyDance. In addition to teaching and performing, Laura has worked as a performance makeup artist, teaching workshops in stage makeup, and also wrote the beauty and glamour column and feature articles in Yallah Magazine.
Through her commitment to fitness and the benefits of conditioning to her dance practice, Laura completed certification with Barre Above® in July 2018, teaching Barre classes through the online boutique studio, Lupa Fitness Den. She also teaches Core & Conditioning high intensity classes, Bellydance Fitness, and special workshop topics.
Laura is contracted as the fitness professional for Seminole County Public School district employees, offering fitness classes through a partnership with the employee wellness program.
